Ms Barringer has created a dance for advanced or advanced-intermediate students in a “Barre and Center Demonstration” style used frequently in ballet schools. Rather than choreographing a dance with extravagant costumes and sets, the choreographer arranges steps and exercises typically used at the barre and later the center to resemble a class with added flash and dash. Costuming is typically leotards, tights, and possibly a skirt and a subtle hair ornament. The audience feels it is watching a daily workout, but at the same time, it is entertained with lovely and lively movement set to the beautiful orchestral music by Shostakovich.
